Kim A. Eckert's Bio:

Kim is an innovative technical leader, who has leveraged her experience in various job roles across IBM and across large client engagements to deliver excellent solutions to clients. Through her technical expertise and thought leadership, Kim has brought in $2.9B USD in new revenue and cost avoidance since 2008. As you will see in the following package, Kim is a recognized global leader in bringing business value through server virtualization. As an example, convincing a large retail client to expand their cloud environment beyond the sole source of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to include IBM Cloud IaaS for $8M USD over 5.5 years. This was a key win for IBM Cloud since previously the client had rejected all IBM Cloud proposals. For GTS, the Global Delivery Architecture (GDA) houses the intellectual capital for virtualization patterns; Kim was the leader for creating and capturing the early patterns that are still in use today. Through her technical guidance as a chief architect for several clients, Kim has been able to secure new business in the amount of $399M USD. Applying her technical expertise Kim was the leader for server virtualization in GTS Technical Health Checks (THC) which resulted in $6M USD in cost avoidance and prevented 12 critical situations. Kim has 12 issued patents with 3 pending patents. She is a tremendous role model for women in technology participating as STSM Board member, Architect SME Reviewer for Project and Certification Badges, serving on Invention Development Teams, member of the Academy of Technology Leadership Team, and reviewer for Corporate Outstanding Achievement Awards (OTAA). Kim does outcome-based mentoring having successfully mentored 4 candidates to STSM and 5 to Architect Certification. She currently has a pipeline of 11 candidates for either STSM or Architect Certification.

    • Brought in $2.9B USD in new revenue and cost avoidance. • Certified 115 Cloud deals with a Total Contract Value (TCV) of $947M . • Identified potential contract misses which avoided $500M in penalties.

  • STSM and Chief Architect at IBM

    • Won $399M in new business. • Guided a large retail client to expand their cloud environment beyond the sole source of Amazon Web Services (AWS) to include IBM Cloud IaaS for $8M USD over 5.5 years. This was a key win for IBM Cloud since previously the client had rejected all IBM Cloud proposals. • Demonstrated and enabled a large retail client to manage their own IBM Cloud environment for the development of a new mobile application which led to $600K in revenue. • Won three year $100M contract with $27.6M of that going towards IBM Cloud over Azure. • Analyzed a Client’s midrange landscape which resulted in the client purchasing 12 Power8s for a TCV of $9M.

  • Senior Integration Architect at IBM

    • Created server best practices and reference architectures that brought in $1.B in revenue. • Led eight Technical Health Checks (THC) globally to improve customer satisfaction and reduce crit-sits. On average this prevented 12 crit-sits and avoided $6M in support costs and penalties in total for all eight THCs. • Influenced the Asia Pacific region to virtualize midrange servers versus purchasing new hardware under the Hardware Resource Management (HRM) program which resulted in a cost avoidance of $137M

  • Senior Software Architect at IBM

    Created a software solution that reduced labor-to-deliver which increased the team's speed in reviewing accounts (14 accounts per year reviewed prior to her solution versus 27 accounts reviewed per year month) which saved and avoided $252M in software licensing costs.
